Nationally recognised coaching qualifications delivered right here at Crazy Strength in Amesbury — an approved venue for both British Weightlifting and British Powerlifting courses.
Whether you’re looking to start coaching, formalise your knowledge, or progress your existing qualifications — these are the only nationally recognised pathways in the sport.
British Weightlifting’s official coaching pathway — the only qualifications recognised for the BWL Coach Licence Scheme, which is required to coach at national competitions.
The first step on the BWL coaching pathway. Designed for those new to coaching who have some knowledge of the sport. Covers the processes and principles of coaching, safety, session design and how to assist qualified coaches. Includes 12–16 hours of updated e-learning (incorporating the new BWL Technical Model) plus a one-day practical at Crazy Strength. Assessment is now online, giving you more time to focus on practical application on the day.
The next step for qualified Level 1 coaches. Provides the knowledge and skills to work as an independent Olympic Weightlifting coach. Holding a Level 2 also makes you eligible to apply for the BWL Coach Licence, which is required to coach athletes at national competitions. Combines advanced e-learning with a one-day practical at Crazy Strength.
Take both qualifications back to back over one weekend and save £100 on the individual course prices. The most efficient way to progress from complete beginner to independently licensed coach in a single weekend at Crazy Strength.
All British Weightlifting courses at Crazy Strength are delivered by or under the supervision of Craig Spicer — Coaching Lead for British Powerlifting and experienced BWL course tutor with over 25 years in strength sport.
Official British Powerlifting coaching qualifications. Craig Spicer is the South West Course Tutor for British Powerlifting — bringing national-level coaching education directly to Amesbury.
The British Powerlifting Level 1 coaching course covers the foundational principles of powerlifting coaching — technique, programming, competition preparation and athlete development.
